DVA podiatry, in your own home
Veterans with a Gold Card, and White Card holders with an accepted foot condition, can have podiatry at home at no cost to them. The visit is billed to DVA.
What DVA pays, and what you pay
These are DVA's own fees for podiatry, effective 1 January 2026. DVA pays them in full. Our private fees do not apply to you.

The fee is payable either way
Every rebate on this page depends on your eligibility being valid and current on the day of the visit. In most cases we bill the full fee and you are responsible for claiming back whatever rebate you are entitled to.
If the plan has lapsed, the referral has run out, the annual limit is used up, the funding is not approved or the card is not current, there is no rebate and the full fee is payable on the day. We will tell you what we can see, but we cannot confirm your entitlement — only your fund, your plan manager, your provider or Medicare can do that. Check before you book if you are not sure.
- You pay nothing. There is no gap, no call-out fee and no travel charge. DVA builds the kilometre allowance into the fee, so we are not permitted to charge you for it.
- A treatment cycle is twelve sessions and starts with an initial consultation. When the cycle ends we send a report to your usual GP and, if you still need care, your GP refers you again.
- A Gold Card covers any condition. A White Card covers only the condition DVA has accepted — if that condition affects your feet, podiatry is covered.
- Orthoses and some other items need DVA's approval before we supply them. We arrange that; you do not have to.

What you need
A referral from your GP, valid for twelve months. Your GP writes it to a podiatrist — it does not need to name us. Bring it out on the first visit and we will take it from there.
What is covered
Routine foot care, nail and callus treatment, diabetic foot assessment, and advice on footwear. DVA sets the number of visits per referral period; if you need more, your GP can request it.
What it costs you
Nothing. DVA is billed directly. There is no gap and no call-out fee for a Gold Card holder.
Common questions
- Does a White Card cover podiatry?
- Only for the condition DVA has accepted. If your accepted condition affects your feet, it is covered. Your GP will know what has been accepted.
- How long does a referral last?
- Twelve months from the date it is written. We will tell you when it is getting close so you can get another.
