Podiatry for older people, at home

Feet get harder to look after long before anything else does. Bending becomes difficult, nails thicken, eyesight makes it unsafe to cut them yourself. None of that is a reason to go without proper care.

Why foot care matters more with age

Painful feet change how you walk, and how you walk changes your balance. A large share of falls in older people start with something on the foot that could have been treated. Keeping nails, corns and callus under control is a falls measure, not a cosmetic one.

Working with families

Often it is a son or daughter who rings, not the person themselves. That is fine. I am happy to talk it through with you first, and to report back after a visit if your parent is happy for me to.

Villages and residential care

I visit retirement villages and residential aged care across the Tweed. Facilities can book a regular day and I work through a list of residents.

Common questions

Does a Home Care Package cover podiatry?
Yes. Podiatry is an allied health service and is fundable under a Home Care Package or Support at Home. Your provider or case manager arranges it, and I invoice them directly.
My mother is nervous about someone new. Can I be there?
Please be. It usually makes the first visit much easier, and you can hear the advice first-hand.
